Noteworthy #2

The Gentlewoman is the only magazine that I consistently buy. It was such a breath of fresh air compared to the loud editorials and sometimes poorly written articles in other fashion magazines. The first thing that I noticed – having a background as a graphic designer perhaps – was the art direction; simple, clean and great styling and photography. Although the number of ads has increased the last couple of years, I still very much enjoy the articles and editorials. This autumn/winter issue is no exception as it contains interviews with inspirational women such as actrice Saoirse Ronan, animal rights activist and glamorous vegan Pamela Anderson and artistic director of Hermès womenswear Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski.

Have you seen The True Cost yet? I highly recommend it if you want to know more about the impact the fashion industry is having on our world. Fast fashion’s impact can be linked to issues such as individual psychology, human-rights violations and the environment. But even if you choose to be a more conscious shopper by not indulging in cheap clothing, it’s hard to avoid some of these issues. I’m sure some of it is old news to most of us, but it’s nevertheless still confronting and will definitely make you think about how to do ‘better’.

And last but not least, if you’re wondering how to get that laissez-faire attitude, bed-head hair and French je ne sais quoi, check out Caroline De Maigret’s tips here. That bonus tip had me crying.

Have a great weekend!
