Just two quick mirror outfits if you don’t mind. This winter is a pretty unusual winter. Yesterday marked the warmest February day ever recorded with 16 degrees Celsius. Crazy, right?! Kind of a shame because I was hoping February would be a cold one, allowing me to wear my thickest knits. Instead, I wore my &Other Stories blazer yesterday as a coat.

Speaking of, don’t you love it when you can finally wear something again? I can honestly say that I looked forward to wearing that (old) Céline trio bag and &Other Stories blazer again. Even though it’s labeled as a blazer, it’s much too thick and warm to wear inside. I see it hanging in my closet everyday and was pleasantly surprised when the sun was shining yesterday and I could wear it out.

Sometimes I ask D. what he thinks of my outfits. And he always compliments me, saying that I dress better than most. I don’t know, to be honest. I hope I do. Most of the things that I wear are nothing special but I hope they stand apart because of their fit and material which are my main concerns when buying something new. That’s why I love that blazer so much. The wool feels soft and luxurious and the sharply cut shoulders really give it that tailored, expensive fit.

The first outfit was worn out and about yesterday. I wore the blazer on top of my navy blue Uniqlo cashmere sweater and Hema organic cotton t-shirt. The wide-legged jeans are still going strong, I love how comfortable they are. I rarely wear skinny jeans anymore. These Reebok sneakers are my second pair and I like them so much more than the Stan Smiths that I used to wear. They’re a bit more narrow and lined with fabric so super warm. For accessories I reached for my trusty Céline trio bag and A.P.C. scarf. So nothing new really.

The second outfit is slightly less casual. I was on the hunt for that &Other Stories sweater for weeks. As usual, I waited too long and it sold out. I guess I kind of liked the idea of a wool sweater with a preppy polo feel to it which seems to be having a moment right now. I paired it with my black Levi’s Ribcage jeans and Zara boots.

Seriously? We’re almost halfway through October! Yeah, sorry about that. I’ve been incredibly busy at work and apparently I’m a terrible planner. So I’ll leave you guys with a couple of outfits for now. It’s getting colder and colder at the moment and I’m loving every second of it. Yesterday my boyfriend almost caught me trying on my wintercoats just for fun.

Regarding the outfits, I’m not sure whether or not I should post them because honestly, they’re kinda boring. Once I find a uniform that works, I stick with it for the time being. Hence the numerous pictures of me wearing a striped top and black loafers on Instagram. Unfortunately I’ll have to say goodbye to the latter for now because they’re no longer weather appropriate.

Now I know a lot of you ladies are lusting after the Céline trio bag. But is it really worth the price? It’s one of my favourite bags so I thought it would be nice to write a review. It’s a gorgeous little bag that popped up all over the blogosphere in what seemed a matter of days. But I’m certainly not one to judge anyone that jumped on the trio bandwagon, because I instantly fell in love with it too. The trio is super versatile and I love the chic and understated design. It’s great for running errands or a night out. It does come with a few cons though, so if you’re considering this bag, please read on.

Current prices
I received an email from Department Feminin not too long ago with the current prices and at this very moment the small trio sells for €680 and the large trio for €780 (edit 30-12-16: current price for the small one is €730 and €780 for the large version). I got mine (the small version) for €600 three years ago so for such a small bag that’s pretty expensive to begin with, that’s quite the price increase. I expect it to become even more expensive over the next few years. So if you’re thinking about buying it, don’t wait too long!

Form and function
The trio, as it’s name suggests, consists out of three separate detachable compartments. When snapping the two outer pouches together, it can be used as a small clutch. I do have to be honest though, I never tried it myself as I’m not really a clutch person. I prefer my hands free, so I always carry it as a cross body bag. It comes with an adjustable strap which is stitched to the center compartment. The most common (and hard to find) colours are black and navy, but they sell different colours every season. They all come with gold hardware. At first I was after a black trio, but it wasn’t available at the time, so I settled for a navy one. Which probably sounds negative, but I’m still super happy with my decision. You can hardly tell if it’s black or blue, but it just looks a little bit softer (if that makes any sense). The lambskin is gorgeous and feels soft and luxurious. A major con however is it’s durability. The leather is not at all scratch-resistent and when I took it out in the rain, the raindrops actually stained the bag for a little while. So that really freaked me out. But fortunately they were gone after a few hours, pfieww! Since the leather is really soft, it doesn’t keep it’s shape very well, but because of that, it fits quite a lot. Usually I’ll take my CDG wallet, passport, lip balm and iPhone and there’s still room left. I love how easy it is to organise your stuff. I don’t have to search for my keys for 10 minutes. I’m sure that sounds familiar. Before I forget, I should probably mention that the zipper pulls look a little different now. The earlier pulls came with stitching all around (like mine), but nowadays they’re only stitched at the side that’s connected to the actual zipper. I have no idea why Céline changed it, but I like it either way.

Quality
I bought this bag almost three years ago and it’s holding up really well. I took these pictures this morning, so you can see for yourself. It does have one visible scratch on the back though, because I couldn’t help being a lazy idiot. I didn’t put it back in it’s dust bag before storing it. So it got scratched by another bag. What can I say, lesson learned. Other than that I can hardly spot any damage, except for some minor scuffing on one of the corners.

Pros:
  • it’s the cheapest Céline bag on the market
  • the versatility (two bags in one)
  • it looks and feels luxurious
  • the pouches make it very easy to organise your stuff
Cons:
  • the durability of the leather
  • the strap could be sturdier (I’ve read some stories about straps breaking, so I’m careful not to overstuff it)
  • the price

Well, I hope my review was helpful for those of you considering the Céline trio. Although it does come with a few cons, I love it and would definitely buy it again. You just need to be a bit more careful with it, and even though I’m usually a throw-my-bags-around kinda person that prefers the look of a used bag, I really don’t mind. Anything with a gorgeous design that’s still as functional as the trio is a worthwhile investment to me.

Here it is, finally! The long awaited post on my London purchases (just kidding). I didn’t expect to find everything I was looking for in London but even I can get lucky as it turns out. The last time I visited London was over 10 years ago during a school trip. For some reason Paris is always the first city that comes to mind whenever I want to do a short city trip. But it was time for a change.While in London, I visited Dover Street Market in the hopes of finding the classic Comme des Garçons shirt. After walking past the building a couple of times ( you can’t really tell it’s a store from the outside), I thought what the heck, and walked in anyway. It’s an amazing store spread over several floors, with a special floor for all things Comme des Garçons including the shirt I was looking for. The fit is great (I bought it slightly oversized) and instead of the black and white stripes, I opted for the classic dark blue and white design.

I must say, I’m somewhat surprised by my sudden interest in skin care lately. But that’s probably due to the fact that I’m too lazy to learn how to apply make up properly and this way at least my skin looks great and I hardly need anything else besides a little eye pencil and mascara. From the moment I started to use this Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, I completely dropped my tinted moisturizer by Origins. Good stuff! Unfortunately I didn’t know it’s also available – and cheaper – at Douglas in the Netherlands until I got back. Oh well.

Next up my Céline knotted bracelet. I posted it on Instagram just before I left for Paris in August. It had been on my wishlist for quite a while but I never expected to find it and I also wasn’t sure if I would wear it on a regular basis. Then I ran into it in several stores in London. Must be a sign right? So after a good night’s sleep, I decided to take the plunge and try my luck at Selfridges but they didn’t have my size. I ended up at the most gorgeous Céline store ever! The floor, the lamps… AMAZING! When I tried the bracelet on, I was sold. I’ve been wearing it every single day. My final two purchases are pretty basic and therefore not very photogenic. A light grey cashmere sweater from Uniqlo, which I wanted to try since my post on affordable cashmere and a simple white blouse by &Other Stories.I absolutely loved London and so did my boyfriend. We’re definitely going back in the near future. So any tips would be greatly appreciated!
